Wedding Resources

All things considered, I believe there to be only two difficult things about planning a wedding - the guest list, and vendor selections in order of difficulty.

The fact of the matter is that for most people planning a wedding comes down to costs.  There is a direct relationship between costs and guest count, but some times people don’t see it that way.  However to put it simply, each person in attendance equals money.  You pay for them to take up space, to eat, for favors…every detail you plan has a related cost per person.  So the hard part is determining whether or not each person on the guest list should be there.  This is hard, very hard.  It goes without saying that weddings are emotional, not just for the couple but for everyone.  So making the guest list or not weighs differently for some.  In the end it’s important to find your balance between cost and emotion.  While I could offer up some suggestions, and stay tuned because I will, the emotion of it is the challenge.

Beyond White

Meanwhile, as each guest added to the list creates another tick mark in the budget, selecting the right vendor does also.  Creating the right team is key to the success of your event not only in execution but also in final costs.  When the perfect team is crafted it’s like you’ve set off your own 4th of July celebration.  All things orchestrate in harmony.  As we know though, finding that right vendor can be tricky.  After all, planning weddings is not your full time job and you’re likely not plugged in to the wedding scene.  Therefore you must use your best guess, hunch, gut feeling, or a good word from a friend to determine what vendor is best suited for you. Or of course you could hire a Planner to save you some time and heartache. (shameless plug here!)

To help you wrap your mind around all of the things required to throw your biggest and best most memorable party, we’ll bring to you resources and information to help you along the way.  So no need to fret, we’ve got you covered.

Coming soon we’ll introduce you to some of my dearest wedding friends and colleagues, the ladies of 915 Monmouth.  Of course, given that we share office space I’m bias in thinking their work is fabulous.  Quite frankly, if I didn’t think they weren’t awesome we wouldn’t be in such close quarters!  However, there’s one thing I know about the aforementioned perfectly crafted team of wedding vendors – not all vendors are for all people.  There’s some people that are just perfectly matched for each other and while I wish it were always the case for us at 915 Monmouth, it’s simply not and I respect the uniqueness that each person and event brings.  So while it would be awesome to always work with my office posse, I have lots of love for many other amazing wedding vendors as well, and I'll put you in touch with them real soon.

Coming up soon, I’ll spend some time introducing you to each of home girls and their awesomesauce talent, and I’m pretty sure you’ll love them as much as I do!

Happy New Year!

This time of year has always been a favorite of mine.  There's typically lots of hustle and bustle, surrounding thankfulness, giving, and renewal.  While the holiday's can come with lots of challenges, it's a good time to reflect on the things that matter most.  As you embark on a new year, I wish you much love, accomplishment, and a peaceful mind.

My hope for you is that there is enough bling to see the light in your eyes,

Martha Stewart

Enough bubbly to give you a merry heart,

Luxe Finds

And enough sparkle to keep the fire of life burning inside you!

Simply Seductive

2012 Pantone Color of the Year

Perhaps you've heard of Pantone...but maybe not.  So let me give you a quickie on why Pantone might be important to you.  As Wikipedia would say, the "Pantone Color Matching System is largely a standardized color reproduction system".  It's used mainly in printing, but also plastics, colored paints, and fabric. So what exactly does that mean to you exactly?

Ok, let's say you'd like for your bridesmaids dresses to exactly match a specific color used in your stationery.  Or you'd like to be sure that the color you've used to paint your fancy DIY cake stand project to be an exact match of your stationery and/or the aforementioned dress.  Yep, you can assure the colors match via the Pantone.  Cool, huh?

Well Pantone has released the 2012 Color of the Year.  Drumroll please..........
Tangerine Tango!!  Don't you just love the name?

I love this color!  It's so vibrant, exciting, and well...happy!  While winter is barely here, Tangerine Tango makes me anticipate the longer days and sunshine of summer.  It also makes me feel like this girl!

Feel free to read more specifics about Tangerine Tango from Pantone here.  After all, I'm no technical guru so you may as well get the real dish from the source.

What do you think about Tangerine Tango?  Think you'll incorporate it into any of your event plans, your wardrobe, or walls? Do tell!

Local Etsy Find

I really love head pieces.  I have to admit though, they just don't work on my head, but I always admire them lovingly. They add so much character.

When I found Glass Slipper Studio on Etsy, I couldn't help but swoon and and imagine these lovelies on a gorgeous bride.

Aren't they pretty? So if you are unlike me, and head pieces work well on your head be sure the check them out!  They even have some selections for the little miss in your life.

Now through December 25th the shop is running a 15% off sale by using the code SANTA15.  If you check them out on the Facebook page here you might also find a special contest running soon.

Enjoy!

Holiday Cards

Now that Thanksgiving has passed it’s time for one of my favorite holiday traditions...sending Holiday cards and my Annual Frazier Family Times to family and friends!  As a matter of fact...I need to get started on that now.  Can't believe it's already December!

Anyway...A new twist on the Holiday card is Tiny Prints Ornament cards, which are great for family and friends because the card doubles as a Christmas ornament! How cute!

Not only can you browse through a variety of unique cards, but Laura Ching the founder of Tiny Prints and design guru joins in on the Holiday cheer and chooses her favorite seasonal cards with Laura’s Picks. Tiny Prints is even perfect for families on a budget because you can find adorable and personal Holiday Cards with the Studio Basic Line starting at $.79. Do you already know exactly what you want your holiday card to look? Use Tiny Prints’ new DIY Holiday Card tool to build your card and customize to your heart’s content. Um...score! Yes, and thank you! Want something unique, but not quite DIY? Check out Rounded Corner Cards, Cards with Back Designs and Cards with Unique Formats for a custom look without starting from scratch. Don't forget that this year gray, gold, and neutral are the trending Colors.

What makes Tiny Prints different and so amazing is that before each order is shipped it is hand reviewed (by a human!) for any issues, so you’re guaranteed to receive high-quality cards. Trust me, there is certainly a benefit to that.  Too often we let technology take over the human touch, and it is not always the most effective.

Shop Tiny Prints Holiday cards today and especially make sure to check out all of the latest coupons from Tiny Prints.

Happy shopping!

Local Etsy Find

I'm a big fan of Etsy and it won't take you long to figure that out.  The creative girl in me loves to mix among the craftiness found on Etsy.  So don't be surprised to find lots of posts about something I've stumbled on.  Literally I could spend hours window shopping the site.  If you don't know what Etsy is, make sure you go check it out quick, fast, and in a hurry.  It's a site stocked full of handmade goodness!

My latest Etsy find, a three tiered recycled vinyl dessert stand!

Um...excuse me but this is pretty funky and I love it!  How clever.  If you're a lover of vinyl, this is totally for you.  How perfect would this be as a part of your dessert display at your event if you're a music lover.  True, vinyl is a thing of the past but what better way to be nostalgic?

It's even separated by cool glasses.  Yes, I'm in love here!

There are even cake stands.

915 Monmouth

Back in 2010 I had the pleasure of meeting Jacalyn Mains of JMM Photography at a networking event.  We connected over a discussion that only two moms can have and were pretty much instant friends.  At the time Jacalyn was sharing studio space with Marti Thompson of Marti’s Floral Designs .  One thing lead to another and the three of us became united in “holy studio-mony”  Early 2011 we began discussing our next steps and decided that we would embark on a new space and take on a few more friends.  So Kristen Becker of 5 Dot Design  and Kelly Ledford of Cinci Makeup joined the party.  More to come on my fantastic friends later!

While the five of us love working events together, it’s not a requirement for clients though it’s definitely a perk.  We realize that there is a bigger importance in making sure clients have vendors that are the right fit, and we encourage that.

Our new studio has taken on quite a transformation from the day we took possession.  Read more about it on our feature in Design Sponge!!  If you know anything about D*S, you’ll know it’s the Blog Mecca of all things design and we are beyond excited to have been featured.

Not only do we now live in a super fab and cozy new home, we also have the space up for grabs should you desire a swanky, trendy, and metropolitan sort of space to host your next event!

Welcome to our crib at 915 Monmouth

Hello There!

Welcome to The Bride’s Eye View!  Grab a cup of coffee get cozy and sit a spell.  Or perhaps depending on what time it is maybe a glass of wine…whatever your drink of choice just go grab it and come back!

Ok, now that you’re back let me introduce myself.  I’m Tiesha, the Owner and Lead Operations Manager for Event Elixir and now the Editor of The Bride’s Eye View, the Event Elixir blog.

Why The Bride’s Eye View (BEV), you ask?  Well this is a place to find information that you really want to know.  You’ll find things like real talk with local vendors, wedding inspiration, and tips to make your wedding day all about you and what matters most.  I hope that you’ll find the BEV a fun and cozy place that you like to hang out in regularly.

Both Event Elixir and the BEV are new to me.  I started my original planning business; Creative Afflairs in 2004 and just a short while ago renamed and rebranded the business to Event Elixir.  I decided to change the name to something that is more of a reflection of who I am and what matters most to me.  While  I consider myself super crafty and creative, when it comes to planning I’m uber detail oriented. Blame it on my anal retentiveness or perhaps my degree in Supply Chain Management.  But I absolutely LOVE the details, and I love helping clients find the right solutions to pull the details together into something fabulous.

So enough talk about me, who are you?  Thanks for joining me on this journey, I’m glad to have you here.
