Skip the rules, it's your day.

I sort of have a thing about speaking in absolutes as it relates to weddings. When I hear "you have to" it makes me cringe. Weddings are so personal, and they should be a reflection of who you are and what matters most to you.

I love it when couples incorporate something meaningful and sentimental instead of always following the "rules" or allowing tradition to dictate. When it's all said and done, as long as you were legally married under the guidelines set forth by the state, how you were doesn't have to be like the couple next door.

Does your family love to bake and you want to include their handcrafted sweetness? Yum!

Live on the edge and break the rules, it's your day so make it count! If someone tells you that you can't because "that's not how it's done", remember why and what you're doing in the first place. You don't get married everyday...I hope...so make it about you and all of the things you love. You have my permission to break the rules. Now go be fabulous, creative, and most importantly YOU!

This is the front of a really sweet and kind thank you card I received in the mail from the awesome parents of my bride from last weeks wedding.  Every time I receive an extension of gratitude from clients it reminds me of why I love what I do and why I'm grateful that I do it.  Weddings represent love, unity, a covenant, family, and life, and I can't help but smile every time I have the chance to be a part of that.

On this particular card "Remember to stop & smell the roses." was stamped on the envelope, the front of the card, and again on the back.  This one 5" x 4" note card repeated that phrase 3 times.  You know what?  I stopped and did just that.  Maybe not literally, but certainly figuratively and I felt very appreciative of the reminder.  The timing couldn't have been more perfect. I am full of gratitude for the many blessings I have in this world. I'm thankful for the great people that come into my life in the form of clients and/or otherwise that are a reminder to take some time to enjoy all that's good.  Life is good ya'll, very good.
